Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Awesome stuff. The game isn't your normal Super Human Alien Ninja in a Hell Unleashed Space Station style game that's typical today.

It's got realistic lush colors, awesome gameplay, wonderful story and wonderful characters. It's really a must have. If you're a gamer and not a fanboy, you should save your pennies and get a ps3 and stop wasting your money on Taco Bell & Burger King & Porno Mags.

I realized most people who bash the PS3 are people who really want one, but can't afford to buy one because they refuse to save for 2 months. Sort of like the big jock who bashes gays because, well, he is secretly in the closet.

Another beef lately can span across all the media, but right now since I am talking about games, I will focus on that medium.

Journalists. Video Game reviewers lately love to bash things that don't fit the norm, or even is simply unique. One of my favorite things I am seeing today is the constant bashing of Assassin's Creed. It's a constant barrage of "You do the same thing over and over, you climb towers, save citizens, and kill politicians."

Hmm, I wonder how Super Mario World would have faired with that type of idiocracy.

"You jump on things, jump to hit blocks, get powerups, and beat on turtles."

It's like they want shock jocks now instead of journalist/gamers. From politics to Games it seems that they don't want, not can't, to find people who are solid writers and who actually play games, understand politics, know events. Now we have people who are well knowledged in those areas trying to save their areas of expertise with blogs and fan driven websites which probably will go public, have to make profits, and eventually hire the lowly paid goons they tried replace.

Metallica comes to mind here.

I guess I see games & comics as art, and demand everything to be GOOD, not great, not decent in some areas and great in others, but a well balanced and have solid gameplay with attention to details. A fun game that fits this (outside of a few levels) is Super Mario Galaxy. It's not ground breaking, it's not really a 10, but it's definitely a 9. I think a big problem with a 9 is reviewers give aweful games, mediocre games and good games 7s-8s, especially when coming out of big publishing houses in fear of not receiving advance copies, or even fear of retrabution from fans, but this has made a 6 equal a 1, and an 8 more of a 3. 9-10 is 3.5-10, with a 10 itself being a 8-10.

It's like with art, and the critiques can't step out of what they like, and talk about what's good. If they can't do that, they only need to review what they like. Only like Shooters & PC style RPG's? Well, review that, don't review Super Mario Galaxy. Only comfortable with Tetris, please don't review Hellgate London.

I guess we have to force critiques to be like good art critiques, and be able to say "Genre isn't my flavor, but lets talk about why this game IS good, and talk about what is bad, then I will talk about my bias."

I guess I want a perfect world. Thanks Eve, you must have been hot. Thanks Adam, for being easily seduced by temptation and a chick.

Okay, so I have been messing around with a rented copy of Ass. Creed for 360, and here's the verdict:

PS3 = Softer More Natural Colors & Lighting
X360 = Brighter, Vibrant Comic Book Colors.

Both look great, and I like the PS3's graphics better for this game, especially it's environments & settings. Ultimately, just get the game, it plays awesome.

Assassin's Creed (Not an official review, just my thoughts)

So I picked it up yesterday. I haven't had as much time as I wanted to play it because my mother had heart surgery yesterday, but I have already cleared Damascus & Jerusalem. I have to say, with taking old testament seminary classes right now, this game has even more appeal to me at the moment. Just running around in the cities that are talked about in the bible tickle me silly.

The game is pretty amazing. I went ahead and picked up the PS3 version since in the console world I like PS3 > X360. I actually think they made a game that would really push the limits of PC's and wouldn't work that well on mid grade machines. I guess console gaming is trying to take the reigns back.

Everything is pretty much smooth from the story to the controls. Every once in a while the AI tries to think for you a bit and does things you don't want it to do, from grabbing the wrong thing in the wall when trying to flee guards to clinging to short walls when you wanted to jump them. Minor things really. I am glad how they made the game very progressive in character growth, instead of like some of the 3D Platformer/Action/RPG/Adventure games where you start off very close to where you will be to 3/4th of the levels, and not only that they so far are taking advantage of what items you receive after missions are accomplished.

The AI is pretty well done. The BOTs don't just let you slash them, and they don't repeat the same patterns. Sometimes you get a guard that will counter you and take half your life, which to me is fun. Usually when this happens I run like hell. I don't know why, I guess it's from me getting so involved in the game, and if I was kicking but and all of the sudden some fat porker with a sword & well made turbin knocked me near to death, I would run like hell. I don't trust fat men with weapons and head gear. (Cops haha.)

Next is my only other minor complaint so far. The Beggars. They have messed me up so much. I will be running and beggars will stop me to ask for money, then run away from me when they realize I am a murderer. Or I will be pursuing a pick pocket through the crowds and they will stop me dead in my tracks. I can definitely tell that Ubisoft Montreal plays WoW & Other MMO's.

The story is good and I had to let my imagination fly with it because it has some quirky elements to it. I feel like they originally wanted a time travel element, which I haven't finished the game so I am not sure if that's what they wanted or did. I would have been happy with either because the game is just a joy to play, and the story just needed to be solid to complete the experience.

So far, I would give it a 9.5/10. I would take half a point for the story not being Oscar winning, the few quarky control issues, and the beggars. I think they really over did it with the beggars.

Out of that, I really want to see the X360 version beside the PS3. They said they did everything they could do to make the games as similar as they could. I wonder what they could of done if they took full advantage of the Cell Proc's.

Peace
\\C-

It's determined by a combination of a lot of factors: lack of dark eye makeup, facial expression, posture, etc. If you scored high on that variable, you are either really nice OR you're into deflowering teens. If you scored low, you are attracted to raunchier, sexier, women. In your case, your higher than average score suggests you appreciate a cuter, nicer look.
Games: Thanks Microsoft (ie Fuck you MS,) and much Nintendo and Sony love

## Correction: For some reason I thought the X360 Pro Pack was $499, and it's $399. Thanks to omg_its_rob for pointing that out. I Left it uneditted so you guys can read it in it's original form. (ie, I am lazy) ##

It's funny. So when buying a $499 x360 versus a $599 ps3, which one is the average person going to buy? This really makes me remember the $199 Dreamcast versus the $299 Playstation 2 debate. One of the saving factors (outside of dvd playback) Sony had to justify the $100 was the fact it was backwards compatible. Sure, everyone has heard rumors that the PS3 is having problems, which is the same rumor that was going around about the ps2. Knowing Sony, the ps3 probably has the ps2 processors for something inside of it, especially considering how inexpensive they are now.

The thing that really gets me is that the PS3 is only $100 dollars more than the X360. I know that most X360 owners are knocking the PS3 because they already shelled out their $500 for the next gen console, and like the early Dreamcast adopters, it seems you are getting the shaft on a lot of promises. So of course they are going to bash the fact the PS3 is $600 dollars without looking at the fact the only decent X360 package is only $500. I am just glad I waited.

As for the Wii, I am sort of upset the graphics are looking to be Gamecube graphics that can do 1080p resolution. Sure, the Gamecube isn't that bad, but as for Sega references, it makes me remember when the Genesis was getting killed by the SNES in graphics, yet Genesis at the time had all the revolutionary games... Graphics won, and then the Genesis lost hands down when the SNES started to pump out must have games.

The only thing that decides this is how people perceive the $600 dollar price tag. Some other factors are what movies will be available in Blu-Ray, and if people really only $100 more for the PS3 over the X360.

As for me, I know I am getting a Wii for Zelda, Super Smash Brother and hopefully a good Mkart version. I also will getting a PS3, just for DMC4 and other games that look amazing like assassin's creed. The question is, will I be willing to get either of these on launch? Both the Gamecube and PS2 had week launches and I made the mistake of buying both on release day.

As for the X360, all the good games I have seen were coming to the PC... Which I would rather put that $500 dollars towards a Geforce 7900GT or GTX. Maybe when they hit $299 or $199 I will get one.

AS for now, I have a few friends I owe money, and I am finally back to a financial point where I can start paying them back (if surprise bills will quit popping up.) Also I can start looking for good models again for painting, and maybe, build a new monster pc and a mac mini... Or even a mac book...

So unless the PS3 or Wii have something I must play at launch, and in must play I mean a batch of great titles, I will definitely be waiting.

I am saving pennies for a DS Lite though <3

\\C-

What gets me, is everyone talks about the X360 being $400, and the PS3 being $600... If I remember correctly, everyone wants the PRO version of the X360, (so much wal-mart is trying to stop selling the core version,) which is $499, meaning the full fledged ps3 will only be $100 more... Are gamers just that idiotic?

I mean, they shelled out 500 dollars for an x360, but no 600 for a ps3? Of course everyone brings up the games on launch, and outside of a spruced up pc game, which games were worth a damn on the X360?

*sigh*

As for me, unless there are a ton of Blu-Ray movies out, or games I must have (FFXIversion2.0 please?) I will definately not be breaking a sweat to get the ps3 on launch, especially with the leak that Sony is pricing it so to only get some extra revenue from the fan boys, with it dropping at or after christmas OR if it doesn't sell...

Oh well, on other news, I am painting some again, tomorrow after work I will be focusing on two pieces which are more of experimental pieces than anything. Speaking of painting, anyone wanting to model? $15 an hour, plus gas (55¢ per mile)

\\C-

Gamespot said it best about the PS3 Controller:

"So if you wanted to be a cynic, you could say that this is a wireless PS2 controller with analog triggers like the Xbox, a central guide button like the Xbox 360, and it has internal motion sensors like the Wii. But what's probably most important is that the controller feels pretty nice and it already seems to work well."

So all you guys who bitch about Sony Ripping Nintendo off, why are you using Windows OS again?

1 Grand

It's definate, I will be spending one Grand on consoles at the end of the year. I will be getting a Wii and a PS3. I don't care if you guys says PS3 is to expensive, you got to remember I bought a mother fucking Neo Geo back in the day, so 600 bucks for an awesome gaming system really isn't much. I just need to save up for it, or sell a painting or two.

Only will take one or two paintings to grab it. Now I need to get a Hi Def tv... I really never saw the need for one because all the movies I buy are standard dvd (yeah, whe nwas the last time I 'bought' a dvd.) So in actuallity I never needed HD.

As for X360. all the good games I wanted for it are coming to PC... so there is no point to shell out 400 for it. I would rather put that 400 towards a higher end nvidia card in my pc.

Now to save for my own personal Mac Book Pro... I ahve one through work but I can't fill it with Pr0n and install games on the windows side of it D:

\\C-

HA HA HA FROM YAHOO NEWS:

"Peter Moore, head of worldwide marketing and publishing for the Xbox 360, said Microsoft's goal is to get the Xbox 360 into living rooms around the world this holiday season and build momentum by Christmas 2006. Sony and smaller console maker Nintendo plan to launch their systems by then.

The rivals say their technology will trump Microsoft, but Moore is sticking to his plan.

"I would rather not have second-mover advantage," he said.

If anyone knows what's at stake, it's Moore, who headed Sega Corp.'s (6460.T) September 1999 U.S. launch of the Dreamcast, a console that hit shelves nearly a year earlier than PlayStation 2, driving strong early U.S. sales."

UPDATE

So, watching Bill Mahr last night and he said the funniest damn thing:

"Who thinks Bush is sitting in the White House now, feeling satisfied because he had to go out of his way to hug a few Negro Women?"

williameva said it right. He's turned down support, our country has no wmoney, and our troops are spread to Iraq, Afghanastan and building up in S. Korea. Go read wetsprocket's journal and read my response to the Bushies.

Thank's for sinking our country folks. Thanks for putting bush in, thanks for being pussies and nomiting safe kerry over potentially edgy Dean.

All because the media made the war look good, peopel got scared to vote for Dean because he was so anti-war. It appears if we have democrats that stand on solid ground the party is to scared to vote for them.

Three Words:

EAT THE RICH.

So Bank of America buys MBNA? I wish that had happened before MBNA suceeded in pushing there new Bankruptcy Bill through congress. Maybe that's why MBNA is worth so much now, Bank of America is buying the billions of dollars of interest owed to them.

But 35 Billion dollars, that's a lot of money, and it scares me. As more and more american's buy homes and never pay them off, and lease cars and charge up their credit cards, these large companies get fatter and fatter on the interest you pay to them. I wish I remembered the exact average, but 1 dollar makes 3 in interest now in america on average, or something gross on that scale.

We are selling ourselves out. We are slowly strangling ourselves financially. We are insuring when we die our childrens debt will be unbearable.

It will be like in San Fran, where people bought houses on 30 year mortages worth 3 - 10 million during the dot com boom, but now are worth 500,000 - 1.1 million. Some of those folks are paying on vapor. Who's prospering? Ditech. MBNA. Bank of America. CitiBank.

Companies live on the fact they own more they are worth. Krispee Kreme is in hard times because they are unable to pay back the line of Credit they used to swell to the size they are. Someone is going to Bank out on that. Lend 10 Million, make 100 Million.

Companies are solely focused on being dominant, and the bottom line. Why not focus on making good profit, good products and being a good company? Those three things seem to have been lost in the past few years. Apple and Dell are two companies that have focused on those three things. Apple, has taken the Higher Quality product and lower sales and higher mark up, while dell has taken Normal (hence I avoid using Lesser) quality product at high sales and lower mark up. Apple, is able to do more R&D then Dell, but that's the benefit of their business model, while dell does do R&D, but not that grand of a scale, but produces a very good product, following on the successes of Apple. Apple is able to test with hardware more for they make the software that runs their machines, and ahs a more controlled environment than Dell. Dell has to be more careful and for if a machine has a bad 'experimental' part, it has shipped to MILLIONS of peoples, unlike apples Thousands.

I forsee the two slowly becoming Friendly Competitors, which can exist in a world focus on those three things I said.

Microsoft, use to be the same. I wonder what happened. Maybe profits made them squint their eyes as they ran forward. And when you squint your eyes, the faster you go, the more exciting it gets. The wider your eyes are the more you see and the more alert of those holes the squinter barely missed.

Microsoft has tripped a few times, and a few times again. And a few times again. But they have something most companies don't that allow them to crah and burn.

Money in the Bank.

Then again, they don't own themselves really, millions of individuals do. In the old days, when a company had that much Solid Money, they shared it with their Stock holders. But who wants that now? In a world of liquid cash and interest. Microsoft is a rare exception, like Apple and Dell that does not owe another large corporation large amounts of money which is mostly interest...

And to think, all it takes for those companies who we all owe money to disappear is for use all to refuse to pay it.

When they have no income, and they keep lending out what they make, what will they have to come after You, Krispee Kreme, me?

But those companies know they can prey on peoples good will, and prey they will. None of us would want to break our word to the money we owe to those corps. But in the end, it's their power that scares us. And sadly, out of that 35 Billion, our children will never see that amount of money in their lives, only passed by the Entities that run the corpratalistic economy we have. No more do we have capitolism. When the RIAA has more power that the consumer, and the consumer refuses to fight back as a whole because we live in a pesudo-comfortable state, the corporations will rule.

Especially when laws meant to protect a song writer from never loosing credit of song he wrote entitles large entities to sue children and the poor, something has gone wrong.

Instead of producing new ways to make money, and those who can't die, we are now at the point where companies scare us into buying their product...

Instead of Kings or Hostile Armies telling us what to do, we have Corporations. All because we refuse to go without our wal-marts, our bmw's, our overpriced houses that a sledge hammer can total.

Companies are here to serve us, yet it seems we are here to serve them.

What will it take to fight back?

\\C-
